Donation of Rs. 1 crore made to Cancer Institute, Adyar, by GRT Thanga Maligai Jewellers, will be used to fund research activities, said V. Shanta, the institute’s chairperson, on Wednesday.
A cheque for the amount was handed over to Dr. Shanta by representatives of GRT Thanga Maligai.
The world-renowned institute, which is celebrating its 60{+t}{+h}year, has been the destination for comprehensive cancer care.
“We would like to use the donation for research. Often, we are unable to concentrate on research as our primary goal is to provide treatment to patients,” she said.
Managing directors of GRT Thanga Maligai, Mr.G R Ananthapadmanabhan,Mr.G R Radhakrishnan, and CEO R. Vijayaraghavan were present.
